Exes and Oh-No's

Julian turned his back to the street and surreptitiously lit his cigarette with the end of his wand...he'd never been a smoker before but had found himself reaching for a pack earlier in the day, just for something to do with his hands. The little box was already half-empty, and slightly crushed from being in his pockets all day. He'd just taken a few puffs and looked up, observing the rain clouds gathering above, when someone shouted at them from across the street.

"Nice dress, asshole!" came the voice, moving away from them. Julian squinted in the twilight and faintly made out a tall, gangly figure -- probably some pimply-faced Muggle teenager skulking the streets, up to no good.

"What the hell, man," Julian muttered, annoyed he couldn't have a go at the kid. Not a Muggle, and definitely not a teenager. Of course it wouldn't be s full-grown wizard who provoked him -- now he was annoyed on top of being angry and drunk, with no outlet. Times like these made him wish that boxing had caught on as a wizard sport, although it was fairly obvious why it hadn't. Lots of Muggle things had crossed over, though, so it wasnt that long of a shot.

Bastian could almost see a thunder cloud rise out of his brothers head, he had the feeling sometime before his brother passed out drunk he would snap and hit someone. And he'd rather it not be him... then again he didn't want it to be anyone else who might sue his brother as well. He sighed and tried to force him self to think of where they could go and where Julian could let off some steam before he blew up..

"Let it go brother.. your standing on a muggle street wearing robes, of course some youngster is gonna say somethin" he muttered titling his head to the odd stares they were getting.

Then he got a mental image that made him smirk, he would likely regret bringing it up later if Julian remembered he mentioned it, but perhaps it would lighten his brothers mood.

"At least yar not wearing a Tutu aye?" he asked shaking his head.

In his last year in school he along with some of his class mates went out to celebrate, however something has gone aray.. at least in his opinion when he found himself trying to walk back to school dressed in nothing but a pink Tutu.. and who else would find him but his brother... oh he had never been so humiliated...

The unexpected memory brought a smile to Julian's face a mile wide; it was a memory he would always cherish.

"You never did explain how you got into that thing...you were so drunk I wouldnt be surprised if you didn't remember, but I can never forget, at least. That thing was so tight I had to cut you out of it with scissors! How on earth you managed it, I'll never know." Bastian had successfully derailed Julian's line of thought -- at least for the moment -- and his cigarette done, Julian tossed it to the ground and snuffed it out with the toe of his boot.

"Let's go back in," he told Bastian, heading back towards the entrance. Apparently there was a match going on, because the place had gotten even more packed and noisy than it was five minutes ago, and Julian had to elbow his way back in. Not much caring whether or not someone got pissed off at him made the process a lot quicker, but he seemed to have lost Bastian in the process, and of course it was when he was alone that someone decided to pick a fight with him.

"Oy! Watch where you're goin'!"

"Get out of the entrance, then!" he yelled back, not to be deterred. The man looked bigger than him, but that didn't necessarily mean he was stronger, or quicker.

Bastian had no idea how he got into the dang think, all he knew it terribly uncomfortable. however he was glad what he intended the memory to do worked and seemed the distract his brother for the moment.

As he watched is brother push a head of him he shrugged as he tried the more passive approch, he never looked to provoke people, it caused chaos which was what he didn't like. but than again, his brother did need to vent...

He blinked when he heard his brother snap at another Wizard, typical, getting into a bar fight with out him. That simply wouldn't due, he finished off his drink and set it down.. they likely get more after. He made his way to where his brother and the bigger Wizard were, he didn't make anymove to disrupt it of course, his brother wanted a fight if anything it would make him feel better.. in a matter of speaking.

He'd back him up once it all started, Juli had spunk.. even more when he was half drunk.. that was one thing his Father even had to say about his brother.. he had spunk.

The wizard sneered at Julian, and then have him a shove -- all he needed. Julian was swinging in an instant, and the larger man went down hard, but not without a fight. Surprised by the sudden attack, the wizard was clearly disoriented by the fall and swinging wildly, giving Julian the upper hand quite literally. He got in several good hits before the man's friends could react, pulling a struggling Julian aside and going for him themselves. Now two against one, with no Bastian in sight, he took a couple of hard blows to the face, grunting as blood spurted from his nose. Always the fucking nose, he thought, wiping his face with his sleeve to clear his vision of blood.

Finally he was able to roll backwards onto his heels and dodge left, effectively cornering the pair in the same crowded spot he'd just been in. Julian returned the favour to the man who'd busted his nose, getting in a good elbow on the other one before the first wizard reappeared seemingly out of nowhere and got Julian in a headlock. Deprived of the use of his arms, he used the wizard as leverage, leaning against him and pulling up his legs, kicking the guy with the as-yet-unbroken nose square in the face, making his fall against the corner and hit his head on the wall, slumping to the floor unconscious.

This seemed to be the end of Julian's good luck as his friend, Broken Nose Man, got in too close for his kicks to be effective and started wailing away as the other wizard held a struggling Julian down and unable to escape.

Bastian would have loved to join the fight earlier however when he was met with a rather rude woman who thought he'd stolen her purse.

"Madam it wasn't me!" he said exsapertatedly. Just what he needed, his brother was being beat up.. though was also doing remarkably well concidering he was out numbered with out him! he never let him live it down.

"Yoou roughen!' Give it baack Noow" She slurred nearly tripping on him in a rather unlady like fashion. Merlin he was glad Calixta wasn't here, this would be horrible.

Noting his brother being held down and his big que to join in the fight he sigh and summonded the womans purse. "Fine here it is Madam! Now I must be going.." he muttered annoyed as he went to join his brother and hopefully even things out.

He gave a punch to the ass that was holding Julian down, to give hsi brother a chance to stand up again..

"Sorry Juli.. was held up" he managed to get in before being interupted by an attempted punch in the gut.

He stepped back and pulled the guy of balance, then pulled his arm behind his back.. now holding him in place as he stuggled..

Julian scrambled to his feet, grateful that Bastian had showed up. He thought he might have a bruised rib or two, as well as numerous bruises elsewhere and the broken nose. Ah, well -- he'd been spoiling for a fight and now he had gotten one, and despite his injuries, he did feel better. Exhilarated, like. Not ready to give up the fight now that the numbers were more evened up, he punched the man Bastian was holding down, giving him a little taste of his own medicine, so to speak.

"About time you showed up!" he shouted at Bastian, with a grin despite the blood pouring from his nose. Belatedly, Julian wondered if and when the bouncers would show up...the fight had taken place mostly in one corner of the pub, seemingly unnoticed by those not immediately next to it. Luckily it didn't seem like they'd even get tossed out, if things held up the way they were going.

Bastian smirked and kicked his hostage behind the leg letting him go. "I know, sorry, it is a rather ebarrassing hold up" he said amused a normally annoying bar fight was actually making his brother look like a scraper.

Then he wasn't to sure how it happened but another buddy of the guy he'd been holding for Julian through a bottle of beer at him. Soaking his head in the drink, terrific..

Wipping the blood off his cheek from the glass the cut him, he swung a fist the idiot the smashed him.

"Feeling better now Juli!" he yelled over his shoulder as he noted a new bar tender coming over.

"Hey you drunkerds cut it out!" he yelled.

Julian managed to get in one last blow, hitting the guy who'd hit Bastian over the head with a bottle he grabbed from a nearby table. He smirked as the man was drenched in cheap beer, spluttering incoherently as his gaze shifted from Julian to the approaching authority figure.

"Alright, alright! We're done now, see?" he said, holding up his hands in a gesture of innocence that might have been more effective had his hand not been streaming blood.

"Shit," he murmured, examining the hand as he retrieved a clean handkerchief from his pocket and wrapped it around tightly. Julian hadn't noticed the gash happen as he broke the bottle in his tight grasp.

"Are you going to need to go to St. Mungo's for those injuries?" the bartender asked, finally making his way over to where they were. Perhaps individually they might have not been a huge deal, but altogether his broken nose and the gash on his hand were covering Julian in blood, not to mention that it was mingling with the blood he'd spilled. The injuries looked a lot worse than they were, although those ribs weren't feeling too great and made Julian double over slightly, limping.

"I'm fine, really," he protested, although catching sight of himself in a mirror hanging over the bar, he could see why that assumption would be made. But there was no way he would go to the hospital; it'd be tantamount to admitting he'd lost the fight and since he and his brother appeared to be the only ones standing at the moment, there wasn't a chance of that.

Bastian sighed, he didn't into that nearly as much as he hoped, Julian got more then he did. And boy did he.. Julian looked like hell, but he was happy to say he looked a heck of a lot better then all the other nini's on the ground groaning.

He chuckled and walked over to his brother, the cut and broken nose were no biggie, they could likely even wait a bit. However but his posture, he could almost garentee he had issues with his ribs.

"I think we won don't you?" he said with a smirk, patting Juli's shoulder in congrats.

"What do you want ta do about those ribs Juli? Unless you prefer walking around like that?" he asked rising an eyebrow. Yes his younger brother was diffinately a scrapper... no dought about it.

The bartender just rolled his eyes and got busy seeing if the others were alright, distracted enough for the moment that he didn't kick them out.

"I think we did," Julian grunted, grinning at Bastian through the pain. At a cost, certainly, but no doubt about it, they were both literally the only ones still standing. Although barely, in Juli's case. Turning to move away from the scene, he felt a surge of pain radiate from his ribs, making him stop short with a gasp.

"I think I mighta broken a rib or two, though," he confessed, gasping for air. "But I really don't want to go to the hospital...if you know someone -- a Healer, or something, just someone good at Healing spells or potions or anything -- I'd be much obliged. I'd much rather not go...someone from work might see me...wouldn't look good for the Ministry, you know how it is."

Speaking of potions reminded him of someone who might have simple remedies for bruises and cuts and broken bones -- just in case of normal childhood injuries -- someone who would always be prepared for anything. But the idea of showing up at Nicole's place as he was did not strike Julian as the best decision, and besides, he was in no condition to Apparate and he hadn't brought any Floo powder, as he'd walked. The napkin where she'd scrawled her direction was at his flat, anyway, and he hadn't memorised it yet.

"What do you normally do, when you used to -- you know, in these types of situations," Julian stammered, realising he'd stumbled dangerously close to the very subject he'd thrown in Bastian's face earlier. The realisation made him feel a twinge of guilt; even after that, Bastian had hung by him and even helped him out in a fight. He would definitely owe his brother big after tonight.

Bastian looked at his brother in sympathy, broken ribs were the worst, he did have potions at his place that could help, as he was far from a healer, so potions saved him really.

"Simple Juli, get one last drink to take the edge off, and head back home" he said as he paid one waiter there bill and a little extra for the mess they made. He didn't forget the slam Julian had givin him earlier, but it was true now wasn't it. Plus he wasn't about to leave his brother like that.

He brought Julian one last fire whiskey to go, "I have potions at my place that can help us out here" he said holding out his portkey. He knew a few people that might know some spells but that person was at hogwarts and broken ribs wasn't his specilty, Anyother people he knew were at St. Mungo's which was were Juli didn't want to go.

"Either that or go places ya don't want ta go" he mutter wondering his his brother walk himself out of the pub, he didn't fancey carrying his younger brother out unless he had to.

"That's probably a good idea, actually," Julian replied, taking the firewhiskey gratefully. It did help the ache a little bit, but he was still limping pretty badly. "One more drink is always the answer!" Somehow, he managed to hang onto his drink and stagger his way through the pub. His progress was slow but that was due in part to how packed the place was, and at least he didn't need to be carried.

"So, all the way back to Germany, is it? Well then....we'd better be off! It's been awhile since I went back. It seems appropriate that I come crawling back, bruised and broken," he joked, although wincing at the truth of it.

Bastain shook his head and followed Julian out of the pub and into Diagon alley, where he could use the portkey to take them to his place.

He wasn't sure what to say to his brother, he simply took a long drink from his own bottle of whiskey and took out his portkey. "I am sure Germany will welcome ya back Juli" he muttered.

So he handed out his portkey for... he'd lost track how much he used it that day.

"On three Juli" he said.

It had been ages since Julian had visited his brother's place, but there was no mistaking it. From the looks of things, Bastian hadn't changed a thing -- and why would he? Julian was the same, still living in the flat he'd once shared with his ex-wife and child, despite the fact that it was now much too large and empty for a single man who was barely home. Selling the place just seemed like giving up on his family -- but now he supposed it was probably time.

Sighing, he unlatched Bastian's door and let himself in, leaning slightly against the wall for support. "Where d'ya keep your potions, again?" he asked, squinting around in the darkness. He'd have retrieved his wand, but once hand was clasped aroundnhis firewhiskey, and the other was now supporting his weight on the wall. "Can't see a damned thing in here," he muttered.

Bas chuckled and waved his wand, a simple light spell he could do.

The lights came on they were much to bright at first, with a wince he toned the lights down. "The potions are in the bathroom... I'll get em" he muttered since it seemed his brother might have a issue with getting them out of the medicen cabnet. He took out pain relief potions, afew to help with the cuts and bruses.. and a fairly new potion to help mend his ribs.

He returned motioning for Julian to take a seat.. well this was different, usually he just stumbled home and healed himself the next morning.

He shock his head at the memory.. Juli had been right, meeting Calixta had changed him, well sorta... he was Julian older brother first and formost.

"Take whatever ones ya want brother" he mutter placing the philes on the coffee table,

Julian managed to seat himself rather ungracefully at the couch, slumping over to read the labels on the bottles. He selected three different potions and unstoppered the bottles, took a deep breath, and downed them all one right after the other as if they were shots of something much more appealing. The last one -- the one for the ribs -- burned on the way down and he gasped in surprise at the unpleasant sensation.

"Well this part is considerably less exciting than the fight was," he said, eyes watering. At least the bleeding from his nose had stopped immediately, and a moment after that the pain lessened enough for him to sit up properly.

"That's better. You know, while I'm here," Julian mused, finishing off his firewhiskey and setting the empty cup down besides the empty potions bottles, "maybe we could do something a bit more productive about this whole situation with Violet. Surely there's something I can do.
