Star Light Star Bright

It was one of those nights where the sky was crystal clear. The luster of the stars contrasted brightly against the dark night sky. The night was cool but not unpleasantly so. Robin Stone was laying, laxly, on the roof of the Astronomy Tower. To anyone with a fear of heights, Robin's position is unimaginable. He was one roll away from free fall. But Robin was undeterred. He enjoyed the height.

He couldn't sleep again. Nightmares still hunted him. Nightmares of his past. It happened six years ago and he still remembered it like it was yesterday. He didn't let himself forget it though. He wanted it clear. It wanted to be able to see exactly what had happened. It strengthened his resolve. He had it all planned out. He was going to quit school as soon as he turned of age. They taught him nothing here. Divinations, Charms - what a joke. They should be preparing people for what was in the real world. He was going to train. He was going to prepare himself for what he swore to do the night his parents was murdered.

There was time to think about that later. Right now, he allowed himself to just enjoy the stars.

He glanced up at his wrist watch. He managed to charm it into acting like a Muggle Digial watch. He preferred those. He pressed the small button right below the watch face. A small blue light illuminated the screen. 0:01.

He put both hands behind his head and used it as a pillow. He was sixteen now. Only one more year.

Chelsea Quincey trecked up to the astronomy tower, and dispite one might think of the 5th year Hufflepuff prefect, She wasn't there on patrol or even sneaking out after hours.. technically anyway she was allowed out and up here, She had asked the professor to let do a project in the tower.. And she had gotton premission, but no she really wanted to got up there and try something.. it was a charm to cast against mind invasion.. it could only be cast on a new moon and a clear night.. so this night was the night..

She wanted her mind protected... Her uncle was at it again she new it, she got a strange letter from her mother that morning.. And she just hadn't sounded like her self at all... Once more she wanted to help her younger brother, he was even more worse off then she was, he was so angry and even he had no idea why.. She feared her brother would do something regretful one day.. He was only 11 now, she couldn't imagine how his temper would be when he was older.. Merlin he had even pushed her during there argument earlier, she ended up falling over a chair and sprained her ankle. She had it treated, but going up the stairs was a slow process and she still walked with a slight limp.

She sighed when she pushed the door to the top of the tower opened, it took a moment to realise the tower was not as vacent as she hoped..

She walked closer and caught his face in the moon light, it was Robin Stone, from Gryffindor, Selene Stone's foster brother. That was about all she knew of him and that made her curious. She wasn't about to pass up the opportunity to cast the spell on the night, so she wouldn't leave... and beside the point she wouldn't mind company.

"Good evening" she said with a smile, her spell book still held in her arms.

Robin glared at the newcomer as soon as she entered. He was in the position that offered a good view of the stars and of anyone who entered the tower. He sat up as soon as she was aware of him.

It was Quincey. A Hufflepuff girl in his year. He'd seen Selene and her together. Chelsea. Yes, he remembered Sel talking about her. They must have been friends. She was a Prefect too, if he wasn't mistaken. Not that, that mattered to him.

"What are you doing here?" It was demanding, accusatory and all around unfriendly. He didn't see the point of exchanging pleasantries with her. He didn't actually care for making friends or socializing. Besides, he wanted to be alone.

Chelsea blushed slightly, of course her company had to be grouchy, but she continued to smile and continue what she was doing.

"I have work to do up here, a spell that can only be done on a night like today" she said looking up at the sky. "Breathtaking view hm?" she said as she cast a levition charm on her book and started shuffling through to the right page.

She turned her gaze back on Robin, if she so wished she could report him out of bed. But that wouldn't solve anything really.. He wasn't doing any harm from what she could see, she wouldn't mind if he stayed.. despite the fact he obviously wasn't happy to have her intrude. His presence was better then none at all.

She wasn't sure why, but being high up alone in the Astronomy tower was creepy...

"What are you up here for?" she asked turning the question back on him, she knew she was bugging him, but there was nothing she could do about really. So she would have grin and bare it, like always.

"Stargazing?"

When it looked like the intruder was going to stick around, Robin cursed mentally. In one fluid motion, he managed to get up from his current position, jump down the roof and land on his feet, a metre away from Chelsea.

He ignored her first question but answered the second one. Well, sort of.

"Attempting contact with an extraterrestrial." Robin uttered in a serious tone. Whether he was being sarcastic or not was unclear. What was clear was the scowl on his face. "Did I say you could stay here?

Chelsea laughed a little, he was grouchie now wasn't he, but had a element of drama to him, made her curious. Dispite the fact she didn't want to anger him or anything, she had to do this or at least try to do this spell.

"No you didn't, but unless you plan on picking me up and dragging me out I am staying" she answered, oddly amused with the idea of her dragging her out.

"Sorry Robin.. you welcome to stay though" She said finding her place in the book.. "Ah ha.." she muttered scaning though the page...

"Could take all night" she said looking sheepish.

They weren't friends and he was going to keep it that way. First names were for friends. "Stone." Robin corrected.

Robin considered her for a moment. It looked as if he was going to make good on her word to drag her out. For a second later, he seemed to reconsider. Since blatant hostility seemed to nothing whatsoever to her, he decided on a different tactic.

"It'll be a clear night tomorrow as well." He said crossing his arms. The was rather apt at Astronomy, and could read the stars rather well. Ideal for weather forecasting. "And tomorrow, I won't be here."

He didn't want her to stay, but he didn't want to leave either. He was here first - and besides, it was his birthday.

Chelsea looked sheepish again, she had forgotten the first name and last name in terms of relationships thing. "Sorry, Selene mentions you sometimes, I didn't think about it" she said looking at her spell book again.

She bit her lip for a moment, "Sorry I need this spell tonight it is important" she said as truthful as could. Tomorrow might be to late after all.

"Plus the moon is just right, this night is right" she said looking up the mind protection spell was temporary but it would work for what she wanted.

"Sorry I am bothering you Ro- erm Stone, but can't be helped... I will and make it up to you later if I can?" She said.

"I don't mind your company though, bit grouchie, but better then the silence" she with a slight smirk on her face.

Robin eyed the intruder carefully. She seemed determined to stay and short of hexing her or as she purposed 'dragging her out of here' stay she would.

He rolled his eyes and decided to give up. The castle was big enough to provide him another area of solitude.

She may not have minded him, but he minded her. He very much liked his self-imposed isolation. "Forget it. I'll leave."

And with that, he turned and left, closing the door shut behind him.
