| Cole was trying very hard to concentrate on what she was reading. So far she wasn't very successful in her endeavour. Her mind, normally, would eagerly soak up the text in front of her. But today it seemed a little preoccupied. She was several pages into a chapter before she even realised she could not recall what the chapter was about. She chided herself mentally and turned the pages back to the start of the chapter. Amortentia. Right.
Cole had a dirty little secret. Cole didn't want to admit it -even to herself - but she felt a little more than hatred for Mr. Jericho MacDougal. Why? Well she didn't quite know herself. Maybe because he was so bloody annoying. With his stupid hair and his stupid voice and his stupid head and his stupid face and his stupid lips. Speaking of annoying - Cole realised once again she did not take in a single word of what she was reading. She sighed and turned the pages back to the start of the chapter.
After the third time she caught herself - she decided to give up reading that particular text and picked up another one from the books gathered around her. A bright pink ball caught her attention. She reached for it. It was Jaina's. She must left it when she was trying to get Cole to go out to fly. Cole of course refused - she needed to finish her research.
She looked at the ball with a slight look of disapproval. It was one of those Muggle Magic Eight balls - charmed to 'make things a little more interesting'. Those were Jaina's exact words as she showed it around the Common Room. Within seconds - Jaina had the girls in the Common Room taking turns on the ball asking it the most silliest of questions with a slew of giggles following the ball's scandalous answer. It was why Cole opt for the library in the first place. The quiet. Little good the quiet did to her - it just made her mind susceptible to daydreaming.
Cole looked at the ball thoughtfully and decided to give it a go. "What should I do?"
She shook the ball and peered at the little black liquid that would give her the answer.
'You should get a Slytherin tie.'
Cole rolled her eyes. Honestly Jaina. Don't you have anything better to do?
But the ball wasn't finished.
'You should also stop lying to yourself and admit the truth.'
Cole stared at the ball. She then threw the ball behind her. Stupid ball. | |
