The 1700’s were quite a different place from the world of today. Adrien had wanted to become a soldier when he was a boy. That quickly changed upon witnessing firsthand the devastation of war in the form of one of his uncles coming home crippled to the point where even magic couldn’t fix it. It would be a scholar’s life for Adrien, if he had anything to say about it. When he came of age he was promptly sent to Beauxbatons Academy, and thrived in the world of academics. While there he met and fell in love with the witch Josette Bellerose. At the age of fifteen he vowed to build her a beautiful home, and would ask for her hand the day it was finished.

Adrien began the project that summer, and finished the mansion at the age of twenty two. When he came to call on Josette she was in tears. Her parents had already arranged her to marry another man. The only foreseeable ways out of the contract was either to duel the other wizard, Ghislain Allard, or run away together. Adrien personally favored running away, but reasoned with himself that it would only delay the inevitable. With reluctance Adrien challenged Ghislain to a duel. It was a brutal battle, but in the end Adrien won and allowed the Ghislain to live. A short time thereafter, Adrien and Josette were married and moved into their new mansion.

On their fifth wedding anniversary, Adrien told Josette he had a gift being shipped to them overseas, and that it would be late. When Adrien went to the owlery to check if the parcel had made it, he was ambushed by none other than Ghislain Allard. The evening darkness made it hard to see the other wizard, but he knew the voice. Ghislain came for revenge. Adrien noticed that the wizard was a lot stronger this time than in the past, and as they dueled Ghislain told him of what happened since their last duel.

In short, Ghislain was disowned by his family, lost his job, and became little more than the village drunk. And then Ghislain ran into a vampire. At the point of near-death by alcohol consumption, Ghislain gladly allowed himself to be turned into a vampire as well. At the time it was a desperate consent in order to survive. But now... now he could exact his revenge upon Adrien with the strength being a vampire granted. Ghislain eventually wore Adrien down, and went in for the kill the moment an opportunity presented itself. Adrien struggled to shove Ghislain off of him. It was no use: Ghislain nearly bled the wizard dry, and Adrien lost consciousness. His revenge nearly complete, Ghislain hauled Adrien’s limp body off the property and back to the pitiful structure Ghislain called home. The parcel with lightly blood-splattered paper and Adrien’s pocket watch were the only things left at the scene.

Adrien awoke three days later. His hands and legs were bound, with his wand not far away. In the darkness he crawled like a snake across the dirt floor, grabbing the handle only to find that his wand had been shattered into several pieces. He started to search for another weapon when Ghislain entered the room with a tray in his hands and a smirk on his face. Adrien was offered a bowl of porridge and he greedily ate it, only to learn that his hunger was far from quenched. A few minutes later Adrien’s stomach refused the meal, and Ghislain watched Adrien vomit with great amusement. Ghislain explained to Adrien that they were both vampires now, and that the food they once enjoyed in life would no longer sustain them. Ghislain went on to explain that Adrien needed to quench his hunger with blood... and that until Adrien referred to him as “Sire” he wouldn’t see so much as a drop of it.

[b]Personality:[/b] On the best of days, Barnabas is a happy-go-lucky, cheerful young boy. His life revolves around meeting new people and going on new adventures – any sort of excitement of the here and now. With a child-size attention span, he often becomes bored too easily and will thus entertain himself through any means possible. There is no such thing as an adventure too big or a dare too small.

On a mild day, he is suspicious of those around him. While his “home” seems to be little more than a dilapidated shack with an extensive yard, Barnabas will do everything in his power to defend it from being taken from him... or him being taken from it. The shack has a large, dug-out, underground bunker of sorts where several vampires could potentially find rest, games, and a small supply of food. Barnabas hopes to start a coven of vampire-children so he won’t be eternally lonely. Attempts have been made to turn fellow children, but the boy has yet to master that particular art.

On a bad day, or if he just doesn’t like a given person, Barnabas can be relied upon for high dosages of verbal venom or outright hostility. He has a nasty, explosive temper. While it takes little to no time for said temper to fizzle out, Barnabas has a tendency to hold grudges against any and all transgressors for an indefinite amount of time.

[b]Your Story Please?[/b] Barnabas Hollins was born in the year 1620 to a proper family. He had a mother and a father, and an older brother. An attack by a rogue vampire terrorizing his village ended that happy life, slaying all in the house but him. Barnabas had hidden from the attackers, and would have likely been also made a victim had vampire hunters not stormed the house after their quarry. Little did the boy know that, as Hunters carried him out of the house, the vampire who had decimated his family watched every move Barnabas made.

The Hollins boy was quickly shepherded into the masses of orphans and street urchins, under the care of a strict old man. Vampire attacks raged on within the magical village. Superstitious town councilmembers assumed the vampires to be angry gods in search of those chosen by Fate to join them in the next life. It was debated that Barnabas was one such life who had dodged its potentially chosen arrow.

Negotiation via a priestess struck a horrific deal: once a year, one of the village’s number would wander into the woods to be taken by the vampires. By the amount of blood left behind in the snow, it was always assumed the poor soul was killed. What they didn’t realize is that what happened to these people varied. Some were kept alive for continual feedings to last through the year... while others were turned, told the truth of the myth, and then left to continue the legacy. A few were turned some distance away from the village, and then cruelly left to their own devices.

Like all children at the age of eleven, Barnabas received his letter to attend Hogwarts. He was instructed not to worry about financing his education as there was something of a fund waiting for children in situations much like his. Barnabas was sorted into Gryffindor House that fall.

As rotten luck would have it, Barnabas was chosen at the age of fourteen to wander into the woods. It wasn’t until the boy was cold and hungry that he was blindfolded and carried what felt like many leagues beyond the tiny village from where he had been born and raised. Barnabas was kept alive for a source of blood until spring before the vampire decided to turn him. Sure enough: once the exchange of bloods occurred, the vampire maliciously left Barnabas to figure things out for himself.

Barnabas lived on a trial-and-error basis for the first few years of his young vampiric life. He had to learn the hard way that he was no longer able to play in the sun, nor was crudely-made shelter enough to keep him from burning in the slivers of sun that shone through the walls. Stealing food from markets did little to satisfy the rumbling of his belly, but the blood from a freshly caught rabbit sustained him for a day or two. He hadn’t heard from anyone at Hogwarts about the following year, so he quickly gave that up. School wasn’t very interesting to Barnabas, anyway. When the interest surfaced, he gladly learned everything about it. Otherwise... you’d have better luck prying a gold piece out of the claws of a niffler.

And so Barnabas’s undead life continued on for several decades. He eventually found and fortified himself a place to call home, and hand-dug out a bunker for the floor below where proper sleep could be gotten at no risk at all. Existence as a Rogue was a lonely one. Barnabas countered this by going on daily adventures to either see new things or meet new people. He stumbled upon knowledge of vampire clans, rogues, and menaces, and soaked it all in. It soon became Barnabas’s dream to have his own coven or miniature clan of vampire children. Living with a full-fledged clan did not appeal to him since it seemed like that was far too many people living under one roof... not to mention there would be few children there to play with.

Born to halfblood mother, Alexis Rayne, in the thick of one of the coldest Novembers.
Sent to Hogwarts during the Purist Takeover, even though she did not share those beliefs.
Constantly harassed by children of Purists
Pressured into a serious relationship when she was 16; it went downhill, and at one point he beats her

On her 17th birthday, went to a bar for her first strong drink with a fellow student. One night stand ensues.
She is awkward the morning after, but he is not. Does her again, but instead of staying for cuddles he leaves
They are on-again, off-again; Ember breaks it off when she realizes he’s been recording them, and inviting his friends to watch the films.

After finishing school, gets a job but doesn’t like it. Would spend Friday night at the bar, and Saturday morning asleep with a random stranger. At first, she didn’t exactly like the morning after events. Eventually, she no longer cared and embraced the fact that it was just a biological urge.

Quits the hated job and becomes a TA at Durmstrang; feels the pressure of a steeply-climbing debt.

Developed a relationship with one of her one-night stands, though it is only a casual relationship.

This ‘casual relationship’ turned out to be an employee of a bar looking for strippers, and metamorphmagi was to be offered a hefty bonus. At first she slapped the guy for using her. However, in talking with her he learned of her dreams to be an applied potions master, and manipulated her into thinking that if she went for the job as a stripper she could strip her way through the needed education. Considering her family’s financial situation being as poor as it was, she took the job.

To keep her employment prospects safe, Ember always went to work morphed into features entirely unlike her own. Who knew how many professors made their way to the stripper bars and things? It was for the best.
Covered for a friend for a regular named Logan Blackwood, who was in love with a girl he couldn’t have. Explained to him about his usual stripper not being available, but was filled in and is willing to cover for her that night, if he wants. He agrees.

Back at Durmstrang, she once again finds herself in a job she’d rather not have.

Job:

Personality: Dominic is a smart wizard, but often allows his emotions to get in the way. It is not uncommon to perceive the man as going from seething hot anger to ice cold vengeance from one instant to the next. He is selfish to the point of hurting himself in some shape or form so long as he gets his way in the end. Some would say reading Dominic is like reading an open book... but in reality only his anger or disdain bubble to the surface, allowing little else to break the stone walls of neutrality. Unlike his brothers, Dominic has biases. In order, his allegiances currently stand thus: The Dark Lord, family, friends, purebloods, halfbloods, veela, and vampires.


History: Dominic was the third child born to Donovan and Natalie Travers. They were strict pureblood parents with fanatical ideas about their elite status among those in the wizarding world. His older siblings, Nicholas and Isaac, largely spoke to him in some strange tongue that his parents did not. It confused their parents whenever Dominic tried one of the strange words from his brothers. It also confused the boy when Nicholas and Isaac were amused at the overall confusion it caused in general. Eventually Dominic figured it out... with some help from his brothers. When Larissa became old enough to talk, Dominic took great pleasure in teaching her how to speak their made-up language, too. It was empowering to teach it to his sister, but even moreso to know that he knew something very few people in the world did not.

Like his two older brothers, Dominic also went to Hogwarts. After seeing his parents rage at Nicholas making Gryffindor, and acting neutral towards Isaac’s inclusion into Ravenclaw, Dominic sincerely hoped he would be Sorted into either Ravenclaw or Slytherin. Gryffindor was apparently terrible, and the remarks his parents had about Hufflepuff weren’t that positive either. Donovan and Natalie made certain to groom Dominic to their ideals. If Nicholas would not be the model son they wanted, and Isaac chose to remain in the middle of the path, then Dominic would be their next option. Dominic and Nicholas clashed more frequently than usual during their time together at Hogwarts. When Dominic turned 14, he began to twist the language his elder siblings had created into something all his own – a darker, harsher tongue. He had started to teach it to Larissa, but Isaac eventually talked her out of it.

Unlike his brother Nicholas, Dominic continues to reside in the family home after finishing school.
