Hanging in the common room

Luke leaned back on the arm chair of the couch and propped his feet on the soft cushion as his eyes glared into the fireplace, which was unlit. He was quite bored, since his sister wasn't there to entertain him, as he ease dropped on other conversations. There was nothing to do, he didn't have any friends since he is indeed a first year, and he couldn't leave his common room to mess with his younger sister.

The young Slytherin then glance up at the ceiling wondering what's going to happen next. Is he going to pass all his classes and be top Slytherin and win the house cup, or at least try to, or is he just going to slack off and bully everyone around like his fellow Slytherins. All he knows for sure the only Gryffindor he's going to be protecting is his little sister, other then that all the other Gryffindors better be out of his way.

All in all he hoped someone would just come up to him and just start speaking with him, since Luke is horrible at starting a conversation.

Jade entered the common room still ecited to be in Slytherin, at first she hadn't been impressed that the slytherin common room was in the dungouns, but after walking into them she though they were rather beautiful, in a dark, gothy type of way. now that she had read just about all she could for the classes the next day she supposed getting to know her fellow slytherins would be a good start.

She saw a boy looking rather bored to death on the couch and looking at the ceiling, not very productive in her opinion..

She walked over to him, debating weather he was worth taking the interest, but no one else was there.. so why not?

"Well... anything interesting up there?"

Luke took a look at the girl who spoke at her and perked up an eyebrow, "No, not really, maybe I would find a fly and maybe try to cast a spell at it, but no such luck." He decided to sit up and rest his feet on the floor so the girl could sit down.

He was so glad someone came up to him and began speaking with him, in the next couple seconds Luke would have to take a book out and start reading, which was really not his thing.

"The names Luke by the way, what's yours?" he questioned. Might as well make a friend since their isn't really nothing else to do, and also he wouldn't be so lonely.

Jade primely took a seat when he moved, and nodded her head to him, " I am Jade Blackwood" she said proudly offering her hand to him. "Pleasure" she said.

"Actually I read the slytherin common room is enchanted to keep pest like insects out, so it is very clean down here really" she said matter a factly to his looking fot a fly comment,

Since the common room was so quiet for the moment, well in other words so boring, she tried to think of something to spice things up a bit. "Why don't we explore the castle? still dying to know what secrets everyone stays are in this castle" she said pointing to the common room door.

"Beats sitting around here looking at the ceiling" she said.

Luke took her hand and shook it, "nice to make your acquaintance Jade." She then gave a small chuckle when she told him about the pests situation, "ah so that's why I haven't been able to find a fly."

Just as he leaned his back on the back of the couch, Luke heard Jade offer him a look around the castle, interested he immediately sat up, "That does sound better then staying in here and watching the ceiling." He then stood up, "where should we go explore first?"

Jade got a mischievous look on her face, she wanted to test the waters of the new school, see how far one could go.

"Lets see what happening out there first, thats the whole point of exploring isn't it?" she said rasing as well and smothing out her silver and green robes.

"Can't wait to start classes tomorrow" she said sounding eager, though she had read most of the books she could get her hands on already. she wanted to make points.

Luke smirked at Jade, "Touché." He walked towards the door and opened it to exit out of the Slytherins common room, and waited for Jade.

"Yeah, I'm excited for classes as well, it's been quite boring doing nothing. I rather do homework or school work then watch the ceiling all day," Luke gave a small chuckle at his own remark.

Jade almost skipped out the common room with Luke, eager to learm more of the castle, " I wonder what transfiguations will be like, maybe the professor is a animagus" she mused trying to start conversation.

"Have you meet anyone else yet?" she asked curous. The opening ceremony had been busy, and slightly over whelming even if she wouldn't admit it.

As Luke walked throughout the castle he took in every detail and tried memorizing where everything was since the castle is huge and easily could be lost in. "Yes, I wonder too, but I'm excited for Defense Against the Dark Arts really, can't wait to really use magic to actually fight and defend." Luke replied back to Jade.

Luke shook his head at her question, "No not yet, your the only one I met really, well besides my sister but she doesn't really count."

Jade nodded, "You have a sister? Not in Slytherin I take it?" she asked curious. She had a relative in the school as well though she had yet to meet him yet. He was on her fathers side who she had yet to meet as well.

Then a small group of older Gryffindors came around the corner, one of them being Alex Nighthook, Gryffinfor Quidditch captian, in his 7 year, and a pair of identical red haired twins, Ara and Ava, the beaters on the same quiddich team.

"Hello Little Serpants" the girls said in union.

Alex shook his head "Don't mind them, they do that on purpose." he said amused to the young Slytherins, he wasn't much for the Gryffindor Slytherin hatred.. if they behaved, they could to.

Jade looked at the gryffindors with a untrusting gaze, "What do you want?" she asked.

"yeah, she's in a different house then Slytherin," he started, but then he was interrupted by the group of Gryffindors. If it weren't for his sister to be in Gryffindor he would have slashed back rude comments, but instead he bit is tongue. Luke didn't want to start trouble on his first day.

"Hello to you," he hissed slightly, even though the seventh year Gryffindor was on the friendlier side he did not trust him or the others.
